Come enjoy a wonderful combination of the arts and epicurean delights at the Taste of Stowe Festival in Stowe, Vermont the weekend of July 30th through August 1st. This event was voted one of the Top Ten Summer Events in Vermont. Proceeds will benefit the Helen Day Art Center. The event takes place at Topnotch Meadow on Route 108.
The Arts and Craft tents are open all weekend and feature the works of many local artists in a variety of media: clay, metal, jewelry, wood, clothing, painting, and sculpture. Get to know the artists that make your unique artwork.
Epicureans will be in heaven on this lovely weekend. On Friday there will be a Celebrity Chef Cooking Contest as well as a Localvore Lunch Day where local farms will prepare menu selections made with locally grown ingredients. Some of the delicious offerings include lamb kabobs, hamburgers, quiche, grilled cheese sandwiches, and organic pizzas.
On Saturday is the Great Vermont BBQ. Local eateries will compete vying for the title of Best Damn BBQ House in Vermont. Local breweries will also be showing off their creations.
Sunday is the “official” Taste of Stowe starting at 11:30am. More than a dozen local chefs will be making some of their specialties for the public to sample. Come early as the food generally runs out by 3:30pm.

Get moving and get fit at the 29th Annual Stowe 8-Miler on Sunday, July 18th in beautiful Stowe, Vermont. Novices to seasoned runners are invited to join in at this spectacular sporting event.
The 8 mile single loop course starts and finishes just of the Mountain Road in Stowe Vermont. This lovely mostly flat course takes you through the beautiful Vermont countryside and right through the heart of Stowe. What could be better than enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful countryside on a beautiful Sunday morning. Racers should register at www.locorunning.com/stowe8miler.php. Racer check-in starts at 8:30am and the race starts at 9:00am.

Color Your World at the 9th Annual Vermont Kaleidoscope Show by John Biondolillo, BCK Real Estate

The 9th Annual Vermont Kaleidoscope Show takes place Friday, July 16th through Sunday, July 18th. This great family oriented event gives you a chance to explore and share the fun of discovering art in a kaleidoscope. The kaleidoscopes range from old fashioned cardboard tubes for the kids to play with to fine art sculptures with top of the line optical effects. The Stowe Kaleidoscope Show is a rare opportunity to enjoy hundreds of kaleidoscopes from some of the best kaleidoscope makers in the world. You can relax with some of our color therapy kaleidoscopes or see how you can customize your own kaleidoscope with mementoes from your wedding or anniversary.
The event kicks off on Friday at 10am with a welcome to the show and the unveiling of the kaleidoscopes. On Saturday you can enter to win a kaleidoscope by voting for your favorite! Both Friday and Saturday from 12pm-4pm there are classes for children and beginners to learn how to make and decorate your own kaleidoscope. There is a nominal materials fee for these classes. On Sunday the exhibits showcasing some of the world’s finest kaleidoscopes will be open to the public for viewing.

Save the date! The 23rd Annual Stoweflake Hot Air Balloon Festival takes place the weekend of July 9th through 11th at the Stoweflake Mountain Resort and Spa. This incredible event was voted a Top Ten Event of Vermont.
There is something for everyone at this family oriented event. This summer celebration includes a children’s corner sure to keep the kids busy with arts, crafts, and other fun activities. There will be live bands performing throughout the weekend. You can just sit back, relax, and observe in our beer and wine garden.

Summer is abloom in Stowe, Vermont this weekend. Join us at the Stowe Garden Festival taking place Friday, June 25th through Sunday, June 27th. The Stowe Garden Festival is one of New England’s most popular venues for showcasing fine gardens.
The gala event kicks off on Friday with several events. The Perennial Garden Workshop presented by nationally known garden consultant Kerry Mendez is sure to be a crowd pleaser. This exciting and informative workshop is from 1-4pm and space is limited so register at www.pyours.com. From 11am-12pm, Chef Tony of Trattoria La Fiesta Restaurant will be presenting a cooking demonstration and tasting where he will work his magic with garden herbs and other fresh ingredients.
On Saturday there is a half-day photography workshop in the Garden with professional photographer Gustav Verderber. There are also garden tours and workshops including a workshop on Feng Shui for your garden. From 12pm to 1pm there is the Piecasso Deck Party featuring pizzas made with fresh veggies from the garden.

Got Vacation Time-Use it Now

Stowe picked up 1-2" of snow overnight on top of the 1-2" from yesterday, bringing the storm total to 11-18" since Thursday afternoon. It is breezy on the mountain this morning and although winds are forecast to die down today they may effect lift operations early this morning-- we'll keep the report updated of any operational changes as soon as we know any details. We made snow overnight on Lower Standard (half-pipe), Tyro (large terrain park) & Main Street. The grooming fleet smoothed out 46 trails last night, plus two terrain parks & a rail garden with a total of 20 features. Please Note-- Tyro will be closed so our park groomers can begin to build the Large Terrain Park (opening soon). The Sterling and Whirlaway trails are open for advanced skiers/riders only. Today's "Share the Slope" message: Always use devices to prevent runaway equipment. Coming Events: Friday Night there will be a Torchlight Parade and Fireworks display at Spruce Peak. Then on Saturday, we ! will have the charity fundraiser FCS Race for Kids.

The above is from the mountain posting this morning. I skiied and can tell you that it was windy but the sun was bright, skiing was great and improving. With the holidays finished we can enjoy the mountain again with no crowds for a few weeks. Stowe Realty had 68 properties rented for the Christmas Holiday period and we are cleaning lots of homes this morning.

Burlington had the highest total ever recorded in one snow storm within the past two days, 32.6" but the airport never stopped operating and the roads were open.
